Who We Are
The Rescue Mission of Cape Fear was founded in 1974 as a Christ centered ministry serving those living in homelessness in the greater Wilmington area. Since then, we have grown into a thriving nonprofit, serving scores of men through our program. At the Rescue Mission of Cape Fear, we meet the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of those that are lost and the hurting.
Over the years, we have learned that we can change the face of homelessness in our community by focusing on the holistic needs of each individual.
What We Do
Rescue Mission of Cape Fear's residential program can provide meals, transportation, clothing, and shelter for up to 18 men at a time. The mission also provides toiletries, laundry supplies, and any other essential needs.
We are a work-based program; therefore, the Mission residents work in our thrift store for 30 days and are then encouraged to look for gainful employment. We partner with other local organizations to provide education and next-step services such as goal setting, budgeting, and resume building.
Our residents can stay at the mission for up to 90-days and are evaluated regularly by our case-management staff to identify other needs or barriers and ensure that they are meeting their goals.
We partner with area churches to provide chapel services at the Mission and attend Celebrate Recovery to support their recovery journey.
On Sunday mornings, we attend local church services alternating among various denominations of the Christian faith.
